Numbers and narratives, increasing reach

New Zealanders consume more per capita than people living in other OECD countries and as a country we have lower material productivity. Good Scoop worked with WasteMINZ to capitalise on its new New Zealand Institute of Economic Research, turn numbers into a compelling narrative and gain media attention. Efficiency in waste is as good for the economy as it is for the environment.

Key PR and media opportunities secured :

  • Newstalk ZB Heather du Plessis-Allen Drive
  • RNZ Nine to Noon
  • Newstalk ZB news
  • With a media release developed and distributed, including across owned and shared channels

The Challenge:

Resourcing is tight for Not-For-Profit teams and we know that having reliable and experienced contractors (who get Not-For-Profits, get on with the work and care) to help with campaigns, special projects or reports not only fill gaps but help to secure new opportunities. Good Scoop worked with WasteMINZ to secure media attention and to leverage its new research.

The Opportunity:

An opportunity exists to help raise awareness, spark public conversations and changes mindsets in New Zealand about the economics on waste efficiency. Helping to shift mindsets around waste creation in New Zealand is about empowering everyone to act. Raising awareness of WasteMINZ and what it does also helps to strengthen its relationships with stakeholders, including members.
